Health and Beauty Benefits of Rosemary
Fri-Fucking-Yay. That is all I have to say. (Kind of rhymed)

It has been a hell of a week and I am in need of major R&R.

Any fun plans for this weekend? Give me the deats!

Woo.

True to every Friday, I have a new edition of health and beauty benefits of the world’s favorite spices!

So, ROSEMARY.

Rosemary is an aromatic herb that belongs to the mint family and is similar to sage and peppermint. It is native to the Mediterranean region and has greyish green, needle-shaped leaves and produces small, pale blue flowers.

Besides its various culinary uses, this refreshing and aromatic oil has healing, medicinal and psychological effects, due to its antioxidants and essential acids which makes it beneficial for your health.

Health Benefits of Rosemary:

Increase Memory:

Rosemary can work effectively as a cognitive stimulant which is useful for increasing memory and mental concentration.

Stress Relief:

Rosemary is often used in aromatherapy and been proven to decrease the level of cortisol in the saliva. Cortisol is the main stress hormone that is released during stress to the body. Inhaling rosemary oil can significantly reduce the levels of cortisol in the saliva, which can decrease chronic stress. When the oil is inhaled, it can boost mental energy and is also known to clear the respiratory tract.

Dental Health:

Due to its astringent and antibacterial properties it is effective for the treatment of dental conditions like bad breath, plaque build-up, cavities and gingivitis. Being a disinfectant, it is often used as a mouthwash for keeping your gums and teeth healthy.

Strengthen Immune System:

The magical plant helps provide people with a powerful protection against different pathogens and diseases that might adversely influence immunity. It is filled with numerous compounds like caffeic acid and carosol which have anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and antioxidant properties. These compounds are very important for neutralizing free radicals, which can lead to cellular damage and oxidative stress.

Alleviate Headache:

Because of its analgesic properties it helps in treating headaches. Rosemary reduces the severity and pain of migraines.

Natural Deodorant

Treatment Of Acne:

Rosemary oil has powerful disinfectant and antiseptic properties. These help in treating acne and oily skin conditions.

Stimulates The Hair Follicles:

Rosemary oil stimulates the hair follicles, which then enable

stronger hair growth by stimulating cell division and dilating the blood vessels.

Anti-Ageing Property:

Since it is rich in powerful antioxidants, the oil slows down the effect of ageing on the skin by tightening sagging and loose skin. It stimulates biological activity and cell growth to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Aroma:

The mesmerizing aroma makes rosemary essential oil an excellent inhalant. The oil is used in room fresheners, cosmetics, beauty aids, food, bath oil, candles and perfumes because of its unique and intoxicating aroma. Many people spray a mixture of rosemary essential oil and water to remove bad odors from rooms and objects.

Skin care:

Rosemary essential oil is not used in skin care as extensively as it is used in hair care, but it does have antimicrobial and antiseptic qualities that make it beneficial in efforts to eliminate eczema, dermatitis, oily skin, and acne.

Yes!! LOVE THIS POST! I love finding herbal remedies for things. I also cut some rosemary from my garden and steeped it in hot water when I had a severe sinus infection. It helps to cut the mucus. Sorry for the TMI!

I love cooking with rosemary. I try to grow it year round. Here in Connecticut it is hard to keep it going in the dead of winter.

I have always loved Rosemary for cooking and have an essential oil bottle of it, but I didn’t know the headache benefit. This is great for pregnant mamas who, it is said, shouldn’t use peppermint oil to alleviate headaches during pregnancy. Super good to know! Thanks for sharing!!
