Happy Friday babes!
Any plans for the weekend?
Movies? Friends? Drinks?
I will be working all weekend but I hope you get to sit back and relax with a glass of wine!
(I will be helping others relax by pouring wine!)
Speaking of wine…you know where I’m going with this… let’s talk about the benefits of red wine!
Wine isn’t just an extremely delicious adult beverage, but a drink, that when consumed in moderation can have seriously amazing effects on your health.
Time reported, “if you have a glass of red wine with your evening meal tonight, your peak blood sugar, if you measured it an hour later, would be about 30% lower than if you hadn’t had the wine… the post-meal spike in sugar is one of Americans’ main sources of inflammation, which contributes to everything from diabetes to dementia to heart disease and arthritis…it makes your system more able to sop up the sugar and the calories that you’re consuming in the meal if you have a little alcohol before.”
Um, yes please.
Drinking can help me consume calories?
Yes, am paying attention.
Should I continue?
Red wine is a made from different grapes varieties and range from different grape colors. “The skin of the grapes is kept in close contact with the grape juice during the fermentation process, allowing the dispersion of both the color and the tannins. There are many red wine varieties in the wine market. Common red wine varieties include cherry, plum, strawberry, raspberry, gooseberry, boysenberry, raisin, coffee, fig, currant, mocha, violet and even tobacco. Each of these differ in characteristics such as the grape variety, color, flavor, mouth feel and ageing potential.”
So, what are some of the amazing health benefits of this amazing colored wine?
Health & Beauty Benefits of Red Wine:
Can Protect Your Heart:
Red wine contains strong antioxidants that prevent the accumulation of fat in the arteries which, in turn, prevents heart strokes and heart attacks. This is the prime benefit of red wine.
Prevents Cold:
It can help clear sinuses caused by colds, which in turn can help you breathe easier.
Can Regulate Blood Sugar Levels:
Resveratrol has various health benefits and it can also stimulate insulin secretion from the pancreas that, in turn, reduces the glucose level in the blood. So, consuming red wine can prevent diabetes type 2 in animals and humans
Prevent Blindness:
Overgrown blood vessels in the eye can cause diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration, but red wine can prevent that. The resveratrol found in red wine is the compound responsible for arresting the blood vessel.
Reduce Risk of Dementia:
Moderate drinkers are 23% less likely to develop dementia, according to researchers at Loyola University Medical Center (USA). Professor Edward J Neafsey said, ‘We don’t recommend that non-drinkers start drinking. But moderate drinking, if it is truly moderate, can be beneficial.’
Protects from Sunburn:
Scientists from the University of Barcelona have found drinking wine can help to lessen the effects of UV (ultraviolet) rays and protect you from severe sunburn. That’s because when UV rays hit human skin, they activate reactive oxygen species (ROS), which oxidise fats, DNA and other large molecules, which then stimulate other enzymes that can harm skin cells.
Healthy, Glowing Skin:
The red wine benefits for skin is because of the antioxidants that protect your skin and prevent it from ageing.
Hydrates Skin:
Drinking red wine stimulates the development of new cells in the skin’s outer layers. It improves the hydration of the skin to make it look younger, supple and glowing. If you have dry skin, massage your face with red wine to keep it nourished and moisturized.
Fight Blemishes and Acne:
Red wine contains natural AHA’s and has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties that are known to open pores and decongest skin.
Stop Hair Loss:
Resveratrol, a substance found predominantly in red wine is stops the hair loss. It inhibits inflammation and cell death to prevent hair fall and aids in hair growth.
To make a basic wine face mask for rejuvenation simply add egg white and red wine to form a super skin toner, which will tighten your skin and make a powerful anti-aging force
Add honey which is the perfect natural humectant; it attracts moisture and keeps it there where it should be: under your skin. It also soothes and smooths. This red wine mask will make your skin look younger, extra vibrant and leaves it silky smooth
Happy Friday and drink up!
