OIL ME UP PLEASE

by Komal Patel
Crabtree and evelyn nourish oil

You would think that since Boston is right by the water that it wouldn’t be so dry here, BUT, you would be wrong.

I swear dry skin is the FUCKING devil.

I hate how patchy it looks + the itching is not fun.

All I want is silky smooth skin like a baby’s butt.

Is that too much to ask for?

I am a HUGE fan of Rose Hip Oil and use it every day all over my face and neck…sometimes twice a day.

The antioxidants in rose hip oil, combat free radicals that cause damage, and the vitamin A, combined with the oil’s essential fatty acids, help improve skin tone, texture and pigmentation.

Not to mention it helps improve the appearance of wrinkles, stretchmarks, damaged hair + like, why WOULDN’T you use it?

My go to brand for Rose Hip Oil is by Radha Beauty. They keep is organic, cold pressed and more importantly cost efficient!

I ran out of my oil the other day and I wanted to switch it up so I decided to try the Pomegranate and Argan Nourishing Oil by Crabtree and Evelyn.

First, I’ll start of by saying it AINT cheap.

It does hold a few more fluid ounces than the Radha oil, but its so meniscal I wouldn’t include it as part of your comparison of the two oils.

Despite the price, I am totally digging this oil!

Argan oil is knowns as “liquid gold” and it contains “vitamin E, carotenes, squalene and is rich in unsaturated fatty acids; properties that combine to support intense hydration and moisture + it has a long shelf life, so you don’t have to worry about it going bad.”

On the other hand Pomegranate oil kinda covers all the things the Argan oil doesn’t. It’s rich in “antioxidants, vitamins K and C, potassium, copper, zinc and iron. It also contains punicic and ellagic acids.

Punicic acid is a polyunsaturated fatty acid while ellagic acid is a natural antioxidant, which alleviates skin wrinkling and inflammation. Pomegranate oil also promotes rejuvenation and fortification of the skin.”

The Nourishing oil is super light and doesn’t feel greasy or weigh down your skin.

Nothing worse than feeling like your face is as greasy as those dripping pizzas…you know what I mean. The pizza that when you lift it up oil just drips off…

YUCK.

anyways, getting graphic here.

I’ll try to reel it in.

I’ve been using the Nourishing Oil for a few days now, and honestly….I think I may like it a teensie bit more than the Rose Hip Oil.

Yes it keeps my skin soft like the rose hip oil.

Yes, the both hydrate.

They both nourish.

Both are packed full of antioxidants and vitamins are lightweight and can be used for multiple facets like skin and hair.

So  you wanna know why I really like it better? (just a little bit bitter)

IT’S THE SMELL!

Damn it smells good! It just reminds me of summer + it comes with a spritzer instead of a dropper for SUPER easy application.

It’s the little things you know.

Man, I sound lazy AF – spritzer over dropper –but hey, convenience is KEY.

Ok, so if you have never tried oils before, now is the time.

Most oils are natural and don’t contain any of that shit you can’t read or pronounce.

MAJOR PLUS.

ALSO, natural oils are easily absorbed and not greasy. They have a low potential to clog pores, which makes oils perfect for all skin types.

No more sitting in the drugstore aisle looking at the millions of types of lotions for millions of types of skins.

It’s not an exact one size fits all but pretty damn close.

Now, I’m not telling you to rid yourself of all lotions – since lotions penetrate your skin they leave it softer and hydrated longer.

So honestly to each their own!

I use both! Oil for face and neck. Lotion for the body.

That’s a good compromise, right?

I’ve never used oils on my skin, I have typically oily skin so i’ve always been afraid to try oils. I think based on the benefits I might have to give them a try.

It does seem like it smells amazing and it’s definitely important to keep your skin moisturized. I think this oil is great and it doesn’t leave you with an oily feeling which makes it a winner!

I like oils as moisturizers. I used them in my face and body. I tried argan oil which is really good, and glad that this one has it.

Ohhh this is interesting and I believe that it smells good. I would use this as an after-bath oil. Not on my face though, it’s already greasy enough as it is. haha

I was always afraid of using oils on my face since I have oily skin. However, I started using jojoba oil last year and I love it! It is actually the opposite, it makes my face less oily throughout the day. I would love to give this one a try since it seems to be very beneficial and i would probably enjoy the smell 😉

I love Crabtree and Evelyn products. I find using a mask once a week, really helps to rehydrate my skin too. I find oil good but I always forget to wear it!
