Whole 30 Tandoori Sausage Pizza with Sweet Potato Crust

Whole 30 Tandoori Spiced Sausage and Sweet Potato Crust Pizza

Happy happy Monday! Told ya guys you would be seeing some more Whole 30 compliant recipes from this month – today it’s all about PIZZA!

So many people are on the cauliflower crust craze…after having it a few times I realized the crust always needed up soggy and kinda fell apart – so this time I thought it would be fun to make a sweet potato crust.

This pizza is 100% Whole 30 compliant and is made with a sweet potato crust that has a little almond flour and an egg in it to help it bind.

I made the pizza sauce with sugar free crushed tomatoes and tomato paste and shredded, unsweetened desiccated coconut. So, most pizza sauces have a little sugar in them to help balance the acid from the tomatoes. Honestly, I didn’t have any carrots and was too lazy to back to the store and grab some, so, instead, I added a 1/4 cup of the shredded coconut. It was enough to balance out the tangyness of the sauce, but not give the it a coconut flavor.

Since on Whole 30 dairy is a big no no, along with soy protein and casein, it made it really hard to find “cheese” that was compliant.

Luckily, Roche brothers carries different types of vegan, lactose free, casein free, soy free cheese by a company called Follow Your Heart.

Ok, let’s be REAL – that’s sounds fucking horrible.

Yeah. I’m aware.

But the cheese isn’t that bad! It doesn’t taste exactly like full fat mozzarella, but it does taste like a low fat or reduced fat cheese.

NOT BAD.

The cheese comes in slices – so when I opened the package I kept the slices together in one chunk and shredded it.

I topped my pizza with the homemade sauce, shredded cheese, tandoori spices ground sausage (paprika, cumin, clove, cardamom), some multi colored grape tomatoes, caramelized red onion and red bell pepper and finally a little Tuscan kale and red pepper flakes.

Red pepper flakes ALWAYS.

Not bad for a Whole 30 pizza eh?

The pizza was pretty damn good if I do say so myself.

anyways.

If you aren’t on Whole 30 you can easily add regular, yummy, delicious, creamy, I MISS YOU, buffalo mozzarella cheese on top of this pizza.

The sweet potato crust is sturdy and fucking good.

Hope you enjoy.

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
For Crust
  1. Dice sweet potatoes and add to food processor with almond flour until combined. Once combined add egg, salt and garlic powder. Pulse again until combined.

  3. Reduce heat and continue to cook until vegetables are soft and caramelized. About 7 minutes. Add garlic slices and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  4. Shred kale and slice tomatoes in half.
  5. Add all toppings to the pizza and cook in oven for 8 minutes or until cheese has melted
Recipe Notes

I only needed 1 sweet potato to fit a 14 inch pizza pan.

I used cheese by Follow Your Heart which is Whole 30 compliant.

If you have carrots shred that in place of the coconut for the sauce to help reduce acid.

I would definitely be curious about the taste, but given your recommendation I will definitely have to try it out. It’s the hard thing about going on diets like Whole 30, the loss of flavorful food. But this does look delicious.

People keep saying that. But spices aren’t banned so go nuts!

I like tandoori and pizza separately so this piqued my interest. Also, I have never tried sweet potato for the crust. This must really be tasty because sweet potato is already flavorful!
