Hi! Happy Monday.
I know it’s been AWHILE since I posted to the blog. J and I have been so busy preparing for Baby M’s arrival and to be honest I haven’t really been recipe testing as much, or even cooking as much.
I have been feeling so TIRED. WOMP.
Well, I figured I better jump back on the horse before I completely lose myself lol.
Our baby shower was the last weekend in August (all the details coming soon) and for our favors we decided to a milk jar cookie mix!
I saw the milk jar cookie mix on Pinterest and thought it was so cute!
Our baby shower theme was “masala baby” so obviously, just like everything else (our engagement, wedding, baby announcement), we had to keep the favors aligned with the food theme.
WE LOVE FOOD.
I bought these cute milk bottles from amazon and then filled them with a layer of flour, chai powder, baking soda and salt. Then, on top of that, I packed in brown sugar, then finally topped with chocolate chip cookies.
We add a cute little tag for our guests to add in a egg, vanilla and softened butter.
A lot of our guests went home and made them and said they turned out really good and sent us pictures!
The measurements below are the same as the milk bottles and make 8-10 cookies. If you really love the chai flavor add in a tablespoon or two more. You could even grate in fresh ginger or grind up your own spices. As always, customize and play around with your flavors.
I hope you all enjoy!
Xx

- Preheat oven to 375.
- Beat butter, eggs and vanilla in a mixer or bowl until blender.
- Add milk bottle ingredients and mix until combined.
- Drop by rounded tablespoon onto parchment lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes; move to wire rack to finish cooling for 5 minutes.
These cookies will be soft and leavened. For chewier cookies, put dough in fridge for 10 minutes before baking.
To make the milk bottles, mix flour, chai powder, salt and baking soda together. Layer the bottom of the milk jar and pack down. Then, add packed brown sugar and top with chocolate chops.

That time of the year is almost there. I can’t wait to start cooking cookies again. I bookmarked your recipe. I want to make sure I do it.
Awesome. I’m a big fan of chocolate chips but I haven’t attempted to make it. Now that I’m thinking of it, maybe I should just like you did. Thanks for the recipe.
I am 100% obsessed with cookie and cake mixes that come in jars. I’ve never added chai powder to my recipes before and would love to see how it meshes with ginger or even cinnamon. This would be the PERFECT party favor for a wedding too!
Looks lovely! Ive not made cookies for soooo long, will have to give these a try 🙂 Thank you for sharing this!
