Clean Beauty/Skincare Junkie Essentials

Clean Beauty/Skincare Junkie Essentials

It’s been 2 months but I am FINALLY getting to this post.

A little background for you:

a few months ago on IG @sweetandmasala I told you guys I was getting rid of all my skin/haircare stuff and starting fresh with CLEAN products only.

After A LOT of research on clean beauty and skincare products I got a little carried away and bought a bunch of shit from Sephora. I got the Kopari Coconut Deodorant, Starry Eye Balm and Coconut Lip Scrubby. I also bought the O&M Seven day Miracle Moisture Mask, Farmacy Honey Potion Hydration Mask, High Beauty Cannabis Facial Moisturizer and the Sunday Riley Juno – Superfood Oil.

It’s taken me so long to write this post because I really wanted to give these products a good try before giving ya’ll my opinion on these.

We’ve got a little bit of everything in this category; beauty, skincare, hair, so hopefully you’ll find something you’re into.

Let’s start with Kopari.

Kopari has the lock down on all things coconut. They’ve taken this humble ingredient and transformed its oil into literally everything. Their packaging is V chic, simple and elegant. It makes me feel like I’m really getting the good stuff.

Clean Beauty/Skincare Junkie Essentials

Coconut Deo:

No Aluminum

No Baking Soda

No Parabens

No Silicone

No Phthalates

Right off the bat – LOVING IT.

This deo has a combination of plant based enzymes and sage oil that helps to provide odor protection & break down odor causing bacteria.

It smells like yummy coconut and is only $12, which isn’t bad for an au’natural deodorant.

Ok – LET’S TALK REALNESS.

Although I do love this deodorant & am still continuing to use it, it’s been kind of a struggle.

Its advertised as “outlasting your longest day,” & that’s just not true.

I sweat and it has been so fucking hot here in Boston. I’ve found that I have to re-apply 3-4x a day, which has kind of been annoying, not going to lie. As soon as the sweat starts I reapply.

When I do put it on though I am dry and not sticky & again, it smells good and is CLEAN.

If you don’t mind re-applying frequently then give this a go.

Starry Eye Balm:

I’M IN LOVE WITH THIS.

Caffeine-  it helps de-puff, illuminate and refresh the eyes

Super light

Silky

Primes the eye

I use this everyday under my makeup and love using this on non-makeup days too. Give the eyes a glow up. Perfect for beauty and skincare around the eyes.

Coconut Lip Scrubby:

I would say this was OK – nothing really outstanding about this lip scrub. Seems like any old lip scrub to me.

I’ve been using it with my silicone lip scrub brush a few times week to exfoliate and get rid of the dead skin cells on my lips + the scrubber brings all the blood to my lips making them look fuller and pouty. Yes plz.

O&M Seven day Miracle Moisture Mask:

This has the beginnings of something great.

Macadamia Seed Oil

Cold Pressed Argan Oil

Vanilla Bean Scent

Shea Butter – which softens and hydrates hair

Australian Desert Lime – to prevent premature aging

All these active ingredients should do something, right? WRONG.

For me, this hair mask was a TOTAL waste of money. It wasn’t cheap either, coming in at $36 for 8.4 ounces.

I used it two times a week and my coarse, thick, dry hair did not get any better.

Maybe I need to be an Australian beach babe for this product to work, but yeah. No hydration, no softness, no glossy glow, no NOTHING.

If you have tried this before and it worked for you, I am glad!! I wouldn’t recommend it to people with my hair type though.

Thank you. NEXT.

Farmacy Honey Potion Hydration Mask:

Filled with amazing Green Envy Honey

Lots of B Vitamins to smooth dry skib

Glycerin for a soft and supple look and feel

Again, feeling duped with this one.

They advertise as being “100% effective.” This is a BOLD ASS STATEMENT. Shiiiiiit.

I did warm my face which made me feel like I was at a luxury spa, but I didn’t notice smoother skin, younger looking appearance or increased moisture in the skin.

IN FACT. My face felt drier after using it. SMH.

Again, not all products are for everyone. Moral of the story, try your shit out before you fall into the hype of what other people’s opinions are.

High Beauty Cannabis Facial Moisturizer:

Another product I am V OBSESSED with.

Buttery

Take down inflammation

Goes on smooth & nourishes

Perfect for a makeup base.

The sativa oil in this cream plumps, firms and tightens your skin. I mean, could you ask for anything more?! + it smells good.

Sunday Riley Juno – Superfood Oil:

UGH. I’ve been going back and forth on this one. It’s been a love hate relationship. First, I love the ingredients. Lots of antioxidant rich blends of vitamins, amino acids and omegas.

The first month, I was not feeling it. I didn’t see any of the benefits taking place.

Reduce appearance of redness, wrinkles & pores

Brightening

Moisture

The second month I started using this with my Michael Todd Sonic Eraser Pro & now i can’t stop using it.

The Sonic Eraser Pro uses ionic tech to warm up the tool which, when applied to your face, opens up the pores, which then improves the absorption of whatever oil or serum you are using.

This tool made a world of difference with this oil. Now that its being absorbed through the skin I def feel the hydration and see the brightness in my skin.

All of these  beauty, skincare and hair products can be bought from Sephora, so give a few ago and let me know your thoughts.

Have a good week!

Xx

Seems like a very nice product, will recommend this to my sis, am not sure its for those of us who does’t give proper attention to our skin but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to start doing so.. What would you recommend to a dark skinned guy?

hi! The products above all for all skin colors! I think it just depends on the type of skin you have!

Great review. I’ve tried using coconut oil as deo but the thing is that it doesn’t last long. Some people claim it works all day long for them; perhaps they have a different body type. Sis, when it comes to hair products, thick haired ladies aren’t the luckiest. If you know how much I’ve spent on hair products that don’t work! I’m not even going to talk about it. Honest review by the way.

These are great detailed reviews. I have been looking to go more natural myself especially with deodorant. So was happy to read an honest review on this one as it’s one I was considering. Good to know it works but that you need to reapply.

Love these finds and your honest opinion, especially “try shit out” comment. Definitely want to try lip scrub, need a pouty look.

I love the emphasis on clean products here! I feel like so many products out there have so much gunk in them.

I like the sound of a hydration mask. That is just what I need to add to my skincare routine.
