Let’s get wet, let’s get naked, let’s shower

Let's get showered

T.G.I.F.

Thank the lord!

Did anyone else feel like this week dragged?

My whole week was one frozen Excel file…yeah…not fun.

anyways.

I have been getting a lot of questions on Instagram about my skin, hair and beauty routines. I have wrote a few posts here, here and here, addressing some of these things, but most recently I’ve been asked to share my shower routine.

Ya’ll are getting all up in my business now and I LOVE IT.

Let’s get personal.

Let’s get naked,

Let’s shower!

SO basically, my shower routine is pretty basic.

First off. HOT, BURNING, turn my skin RED water. Yeah, you read that right.

I can’t stand lukewarm water even when it’s a zillion degrees out. I have to have a hot shower. I also am one of those people who tends to just stand there….there is something about hot water, steam…just gets me zen and relaxed.

J and I don’t have a tub or a big bathroom so it’s hard to set the mood in there, but if you do have a tub or extra space I definitely recommend making shower time, your time.

Set the mood: candles, music, bath bombs… maybe bring your essential oil diffuser in there for a spa feel?

suggestions.

Once a week I dry brush before popping into the shower. Dry brushing helps stimulate the lymphatic system and gives your whole body a whole boost of energy because of all the blood that is moving around. Make sure your brush up and inwards toward your heart and be gentle!

If you want more deats on dry brushing check this out.

next.

Like I sad in my hair post, I only wash my hair once week.

Why you ask? I’m lazy as fuck AND it’s simply not that great for your hair. Keeping the natural oils in your hair is important. If you HAVE to wash your hair everyday just train yourself not too. I promise, after a month or so your hair will adjust and become less greasy.

moving on.

Let's get showered

When it comes to shaving…I SUCK.

I was never really “taught” how to shave and sometimes I still wonder if I am doing it right. Mainly I stick to my legs, armpits and arms (I have really hairy arms…it’s a curse). I rarely use shaving gel and usually use my body wash as a lubricant.

When it comes to razors I am a huge fan of men’s razors. J is probably reading this right now annoyed AF. Totally guilty of using his razor every day…sorry not sorry.

Men’s razors, I’ve noticed, seem to be sharper and have more blades. Many of them have adjustable necks which make it easy to get into those hard to reach places.

keeping it going.

For my body wash I stick to gentle and fragrance free. The only fragrances I use are coconut and lavender. They aren’t as harsh on my body as fruiter flavors. My favorite body wash is by Aveeno and it is great for people with eczema. Super soft on the skin and keeps it hydrated. I stopped using a loofah once i found out how much bacteria lives in there. Now I stick to lathering up with my hands.

the end.

The morning shower routine ends with me lathering up in lotion. I have been lotioning my body my whole life, which is crazy because I know a lot of people who rarely lotion.

My skin feels tight if I don’t lotion, and not in a good way. It feels incomplete not to do it as soon as I get out the shower.

Again, a huge fan of Aveeno products. They just know what’s up with people who have sensitive skin.

Overall this routing is SIMPLE.

I don’t understand when people have a million things they put on their body. If it is benefiting you, I get it, however, for me, simple and less is MORE.

What are some of your fave shower products?

Tell me how you shower. We are, after all, getting personal.

Xx

What a great routine, I just do whatever I can in-between my four children screaming the house down, haha! I love Aveeno too though!

I like my shower super hot too. Oh, and also, I much prefer men’s razors too. They’re so much better aren’t they?

My husband loves extremely hot showers but for me, the temperature varies depending on my body and the outside temperature. I love Aveeno lotions too, they are the best in my opinion. My shower routine is also pretty simple and I like it that way. I haven’t started dry brushing yet (I know, I have to :D).

I’ve only used Aveeno cleanser and totally loved it! I ‘m fond of a hot shower after the work-out and it relaxes my muscles and body!

Sounds about right. My shower routine is basic as hell. I just don’t have the time (and usually energy) for an elaborate exercise. What I do– long-standing-in-a-stream-of-overheated-water in the shower routine where I think and process ideas. My problem is that all my great ideas seem to happen in the shower where I can’t write or record them. Other than that, it’s a pretty simple exercise and rush to get on with my day.
