Keri nu Ras (Mango) Chili No Churn Ice Cream
I know I have been posting a lot of dessert recipes over the last few weeks, but like, I can’t help it.

IT’S SO DAMN HOT.

Let me set the scene on this new ice cream dessert recipe.

When I was a kid in India my family’s home had a mango tree growing in the back yard. I remember trying to jump to try and pick a mango off the tree.

My uncle would often come behind me with a large stick and knock down the ripened mangoes.

Mangoes are such a big part of Indian culture using it so many different ways, including one of my favorite ways, ras. Keri nu ras.

Keri nu Ras (Mango) Chili No Churn Ice Cream

Keri = mango and ras which translates to pulp or juice in English, is a Guju summer fave and made from mangos, milk and sugar!

Now.

What is one thing you know that is made of milk and sugar?

ICE CREAM. DUH.

Traditionally we would add a little cardamom or ginger to the rus, but for my version of Keri nu ras ice cream, I added in a little red chili powder to bring a little heat to the sweet mangoes.

This is a no churn ice cream, so little work is required. Just puree, whip, mix and freeze.

BOOM.

You could easily add whole pieces of mango into to the ice cream ( I like to add it on top), or throw in other fruit’s, like berries, which bring a nice acid to the sweet mangoes.

I hope you enjoy this recipe!

We had a mango tree in our yard years ago. We used the fruit all of the time. MY oldest was bothered by the skin but could eat the fruit.

YUUM!!! I wish I knew how to make ice cream since I’ve been indulging in them lately. And mango ice cream??? That makes it even more inviting. For dessert, yes, I can’t help it either!
