Catch the Learn…ing Curve or Die….dramatic much.

Learn even if you don't like it

Sorry about Monday. No new recipe. I have been testing a spicy sesame noodle dish with salmon….that should be up and coming soon but didn’t quite make the cut for this week.

So, how are you? How was the weekend? Did you watch the fight? Def called Mayweather winning, I mean, it was pretty obvi.

McGregor should be super proud of himself for even attempting to get into a boxing ring since it is not his original craft. It is so HARD to jump into something with different rules and to forget things that are ultimately muscle memory for you, ya know?

Speaking of things that you aren’t used to doing but do anyways…..smooth transition, I know….

Every day we are faced with tasks that we are not familiar with. In my opinion, you have two options; either adapt and learn, or don’t and possibly fail.

I totally get the whole laziness things. I mean, why bother to learn or do something when there is someone else that knows how to do it already?  We are all guilty of that.

Currently, at my new job, things have gotten off to a slow start…

In a nutshell, I was hired for one thing, and now I am doing another thing.

Not going to lie. Pretty annoyed by that, but, after a while, I realized a few things.

I am super lucky to have a job.

This is an opportunity for me to gain knowledge in another area and become more well-rounded as whole in my division and not just my niche.

My inner struggle has been to take on new things outside of my realm, simply because I don’t want to. Because it’s something that I don’t want to take accountability for and something I don’t want to learn.

That is not the right mindset to have, not just in a work setting, but how you view challenges in life.

Note. My rule is; be the best you can at anything and everything…even if you don’t like it.

So, where do you start? How do you learn something new?

Let me tell you something; GOOGLE KNOWS ALL.

Like, legit.

There hasn’t been anything (that I can think of at the moment) that I haven’t been able to research online to gain some insight.

If the internet doesn’t work for you, know your resources. Maybe it’s an article in a magazine, or a subject matter expert, or maybe you learn as you go.

Once you know your resources, set your priorities. Figure out what your strengths and weaknesses are.

From there you can list out what you need to work on first and what you can use to help get you the answers you are looking for.

Understanding items is the hardest part of all. If you don’t understand the processes or rules, break them down.

Use the pieces that make sense to you, add in the resources that you have secured and hopefully you will get the answers you are looking for.

None of what I am saying is a perfect formula to learning something new. You have to want to learn, and you have to want to excel.

Motivation is something that you will need before you can want any of those things. That is something you have to dig deep inside of you to find.

Like I said earlier, for me, it is the satisfaction of knowing that I can conquer something or can be the best possible version of myself at whatever it is.

I know this post is short and I know it doesn’t cover everything, but you have to do what works for you.

It’s pretty simple really: Take a challenge and accept it.

Sigh, thanks for sharing Komal. Really needed to hear some of these words today. Especially the part about doing whatever you are doing at your best. Also, yes that was a totally smooth transition above from the Mayweather fight haha!

The last part of the post “you have to do what works for you” is definitely something I live by. People get so caught up trying to fit in with societies standards and they forget they’re human and they have their own special abilities/limits/etc. Thanks for mentioning that!

Looks like you have a positive outlook on the new job, even if it wasn’t what you you expected!
