Accessories are a Girl’s Best Friend

Hi.

Legit. I have never been happier to say T.G.I.F.

This week felt like it dragged serious ass and with all the weather changes here in Boston, I have been left utterly confused as to what to wear and when to wear it. Is it hot, cold, going to rain?

MAKE UP YOUR MIND WEATHER.

Lately I have been on a shoe kick….in need of new ones for the season… and I found two super cute pairs at T.J. Maxx a few weeks ago.

I forgot how much I love that place. Brand name items for not-so brand name prices.

My kind of place.

I don’t know about you, but for me accessories MAKE the outfit. You can spruce up any low-key ensemble at the drop of the a hat with cute shoes, jewelry, even a watch!

Keeping things V simple (and chic)…a busy outfit can be too much, ya know?

Here are a few of my ride or die accessories:

Booties

I have been on a bootie kick! Ankle boots with print are all the trend right now. The best part is places like Primark and Tj Maxx have them for dirt cheap.

Print shoes don’t necessarily go with EVERYTHING so there is no need to shell out a $100 for them when I am only going to wear them sporadically.

If you are able to pull those types of shoes off then more power to you girl!

I especially fell in love with these Jessica Simpson babies.

Watch

So this is a new one for me. TBH….I hate watches. I always have until recently. They just seemed like this clunky piece that I never really needed. I mean, we can check the time on our phones, laptops, wherever!

Anyways, like I was saying….never really a fan until I got my Daniel Wellington Classic Petite watch. I have really small wrists so It was always hard to find one that fit well. The Classic Petite was MADE for women like me. The watch fit perfectly, not to mention I LOVE the design! It came in a beautiful rose gold with a killer black face. I was super impressed by it. The size is just right so you can layer it up with bangles or bracelets.

Bracelets

Speaking of bracelets these are my FAVORITE accessory! I usually wear something on my wrist every day. I feel naked without it. Chunky, thin, metal, fabric, beaded….any type of bracelet you can name I am sure I have it. I probably have a few hundred different bangles.

In Indian culture bangles have been around forever! It is a symbolism of love and affection, especially related to love, fidelity and marriage. You can trace bangles back thousands of years all the way to the Goddess of Learning, Saraswati, who weighs herself down in adornment.

Pretty cool, right?!

Rings

A fresh mani and a row of dainty little rings…how can you resist?! Show your fingers some love! You can stack them, single them out with a big stone, get crazy with wrap arounds and rings attached to double fingers. They are so much fun and simple way to dress yourself up.

Scarves

I have about a million of these too. When I lived in San Diego I didn’t have much need for them and I had made quite the collection from when I lived in Boston prior to SD. Now that I am back in Bean Town the scarves are coming back out.

I have everything from wool, to silk to cashmere.

If you aren’t feeling jewelry for the day try a scarf. There are many different ways to wear scarves that can completely transform your whole outfit. You may be able to wear the same outfit two days in a row depending on how you wore it.

If that isn’t reason enough to wear a scarf (besides keeping warm) then I don’t know what is?!

These are just a few of my faves. What about you? What are you ride or die accessories?

Should I do a post on the different ways to wear a scarf? Maybe a video tutorial?

I always love to hear your thoughts, so drop me a line below, e-mail me at sweetandmasala@gmail.com, or leave me a comment on my most recent Instagram post @sweetandmasala.

Talk to you later!

Accessories are my favorite items to pack when I’m traveling. So easy to toss in different scarves or necklaces to change up looks. LOOOOOOVEEEE your sweater. The back is all that! (yes, I just said that!)

Love this post! However , accessories and I don’t always get along. I hate watches for the same reason as you (mini wrists) and bracelets feel very clunky on my keyboard, so they’re usually off before noon. I love earrings, but they clang on my phone when I get on calls, so they also often end up on my desk by 2:00 PM. That said, I live for a good chunky necklace! They dress up my turtlenecks nicely!
Just gave you a follow on Instagram, great post!
