Splendid Spoon, Wellness Bowls and A Running Update

Splendid Spoon
HI!

As some of you know, I have been trying to get super healthy this year.

This year has been a total turning point for me. I turned 29 in January and it is getting harder to stay healthy and be in shape.

J always tells me that this is the age that we need to maintain. As we grow older getting that fast metabolism is harder and so is losing weight and gaining muscle.

At the beginning of the year J and I committed to running 500 kilometers by the end of this year, here!  Year to date I have ran 19 miles!

Ok, so I am a little behind…but that’s ok! I went from running ZERO miles last year to 19 miles in the last 32 days of the year. I am about 13 miles off track but I am hoping to make that up in the next moth!

Wish me luck.

I wish that running was enough. The gym is growing on me, but I loveeeee food (duh).

I like to think that I eat relatively healthy; a lot of lean meat, fish, grains and veggies. Occasionally we splurge for red meat, but cheese is a major weakness!

Weaning myself off cheese is going to be a long and hard process, at least in the meantime though I have Splendid Spoon!

I was first introduced to Splendid Spoon on Instagram where their feed is filled with beautiful pictures of encouraging words and plant based nutritious foods. I was immediately drawn to them.

I started clicking on the pictures to see more of what they had. I found awesome soups and cleanses made with some of my favorite ingredients like turmeric, butternut squash and chickpeas!

I immediately reached out to them and received my first lunch “swap” meals.

Gahhh, I am getting a little ahead of myself. I always do this!

Backtrack.

Splendid Spoon is a plant-based company that specializes in making it easier to get your daily dose of whole veggies.  They make is super easy and “fool-proof” to keep your wellness on track just by eating!

Customers can choose from a 5 day “swap,” where you can literally swap out one of your regular meals for one of theirs, or a 1 day cleanse with soups perfect for on-the-go.

I ended up switching out my regular lunches for the week for the soups.

I have to say. The soups are so freaking delicious!

The portions are actually much larger than I thought, so I split the soup into 2 days’ worth of lunches.

It kept me full without weighing me down, ya know. Usually soups are so heavy and make me want to go to sleep, but these soups were so clean that it made my feel body nourished and rejuvenated.

The “swap” pack came with 5 soups as part of their weekly rotating menu.

My favorites were the…

RED BEET BUDDHA BOWL

WITH SWEET POTATOES & QUINOA

Train the body and the mind, the Buddha said, and this bowl does both. Protein-rich quinoa creates the foundation, and we pack it with sweet potatoes and kale for extra antioxidants and texture. The trademark magenta glow comes from beets, and will help you stay centered and grateful for every vibrant spoonful. Enjoy cold or warm”

and the

CARROT LENTIL CURRY

WITH MADRAS CURRY & SAIGON CINNAMON

This is the curry of your coconut dreams, with luscious coconut oil and coconut milk to impart a sweet nuttiness to this vegetable rich curry. Carrots and Madras curry add a bright golden-orange color that contrasts with hearty black lentils and bold red-pepper flakes.”

Any wellness plan that allows me to eat regular meals and tastes amazing is a sure fire winner for me! I am so over these crash diets, or meal plans that don’t taste good and aren’t convenient.

Splendid Spoon has DEF helped keep me on track….during the week that is! (Weekends are another story, hehe).

What are you guys into? Have you tried any detox soups or other companies like Splendid? Let me know! I am SO nosy and am open to new ideas!
