I haven’t written a fashion post in a while, and, to be honest, I just haven’t had any fashion worthy moments.
I am what you call a slummer. Or is the word i’m looking for slob? Am I just making up words now? hmmm… that’s neither here nor there…anyways…slummer; causal to the extreme with a IDGAF attitude.
Yeah. SLUM.
I am addicted to my leggings. My basic go to outfit for any time I am at home, making trips to the grocery store or running any type of errands is leggings and a sweatshirt.
Sometimes I try to be cute with a jacket or heels, but most of the time I am rocking those solid, black, Forever 21 leggings, my UGGS from 2010 (no, I’m not joking) and a hoodie from college.
Every now and then…ok, who am I kidding; frequently, steal some of J’s sweatshirts and claim them from my own.
I mean, they look better on me.
Some would say maybe I’m getting “too comfortable,” but like, is that a crime?
LETS CHAT.
I don’t feel the need to always look to the nines. I like to be comfortable and relaxed, especially when I am doing things as simple as running errands.
I do my best to look nice on outings like dinner or the movies, even parties, I just don’t feel the need to always be like that.
As far as American culture goes, most people don’t dress up anymore at all.
I can remember visiting family in London several years ago and I was wearing my favorite black leggings. My family and I had planned to go out to dinner and I had one foot out the door while my cousin gave me a death stare and said “are you wearing those leggings out? To dinner?”
YEAH.
Not really a thing in Europe.
In general looking good can definitely help out other areas of your life.
How does that saying go?
If you dress well, you’ll feel well?
Dress to impress.
Dress for confidence.
Yes, it’s true, there is a correlation between dressing well and feeling good.
If you feel good on the outside, it will almost always translate to how you feel on the inside. You stand a little bit taller, exude more confidence and over all makes us better versions of ourselves.
I think where the line is drawn for me is society’s opinion on my dress and my mood.
I wear leggings to be comfortable and yes, it is because I’m lazy (sometimes). But just because I wear leggings and sweatshirt and put my hair up in a messy bun does not mean I don’t have any self-respect or self-confidence.
It does not mean that I don’t feel pretty.
It does not mean that I am less than someone in a designer outfit.
Beauty comes from the inside, not by the clothes we put on our back.
Although I agree aesthetics are important (occasionally), especially when representing yourself in an environment such as work. However, I am just SO over people combining designer, expensive, on trend items, to a person’s worth, value or overall beauty.
JUST STOP.
Personal style is a reflection of PERSONALITY. It’s a PERSONAL representation of who we are as humans.
Do you. Always.
I can’t stress that enough.
I have been extremely blessed in my life to be surrounded by so many colorful people from various walks of life.
I can’t begin to tell you how fun it is to see how people represent themselves. They think of their bodies as a canvas, totally blank and ever changing.
No one says you have to keep the same look for the rest of your life.
SO, I am here to say. BREAK the norms. Play around. Do/be/see/wear something that represents you.
Try it out for one day and see how you feel.
Maybe put on that outfit you really like but when you asked your friends about it they said it was “meh.”
Yes, wear that! See how you feel. Get out of your head!
I would love to hear all about your personal style and looks. Drop me a comment or send me a pic!
Have a lovely Friday loves.
Xx

I totally get you. I am more of a comfy clothes over stylish ones kind of girl and I definitely like wearing leggings over whatever outfit especially when it’s cold outside or if I’m going to be running errands.
right!!! i feel like there is a time and place for everything!
Just because you’re wearing leggings doesn’t mean you’re a bum or you don’t love yourself. It’s a pretty comfy piece of clothing and I’d wear it every single day if I could especially this winter. It’s also so easy to match with different tops so why not! I love leggings!
it’s so easy to match with everything! i hate how its becoming like a stigma, like let me live!
I’m a big fan of comfort. While I wouldn’t say I have a specific style, I can’t say that every time I go out I’ll make sure that I look presentable and well-maintained.
The best clothing is the one that is comfortable and leggings are one of them. However, personally I am not fond of the leggings and I love loose clothing!!!!
Leggings are great especially when in the outdoors. They are versatile and comfortable and another layer or warmth when out and about on a cold day
This post really made me laugh. I used to despise leggings as “tights without feet” and disregard them. leggings are no pants as they say. And then i got one and it was a revelation! so comfy! xx corinne
I love leggings too, they are so comfy! Anytime, anywhere, I even have leggings with fleece for winter. I can say, that the best outfit are the one who makes you feel comfy and sexy. I always go to forever21 too for leggings 🙂
You look fabulous in whatever you wear. I agree – always be true to yourself – you do you.
“Are you wearing those leggings out? To dinner?” Those will be my exact words. I am not into a sporty look as I prefer my midi floral dresses and skirts, anything to avoid trousers basically. But I see so many women rocking them and at the end of the day is down to personal preferences.
Totally! At least you understand its a personal preference!
I’m all about the comfort! I love to wear my leggings when I’m at home, or even on the school run. I think they are definitely more popular!
Yeah me too! I love wearing leggings. It makes me more comfortable. You really look great on them.
true to yourself, u can do it
