What to Cook Your S/O on Valentine’s Day

What to Cook Your Significant Other on Valentine's Day

But like, what should you do on Valentine’s Day?

Honestly, going OUT on v-day is such a mess. The restaurants are overcrowded, there are about a million shades of pink and red literally EVERYWHERE and the whole day just seems so IN-PERSONAL, considering this is a personal day for you and your S/O.

In my opinion, one of the best ways to show someone you love them is by cooking them a homemade meal.

As a new wife I think I deserve some attention and to be spoiled, right? Also – let’s not forget whatever’s his is mine and whatever’s mine is mine, so don’t expect me to pull out the stop for you JUSTIN.

Anyways. Like I was saying.

Food can be such a sensual experience ANY day of the year so why not heat up your kitchen with some sexy dishes?

Here are a few tips to make your dinner the hottest:

  1. Make sure you can ACTUALLY cook what you want to cook – You don’t want to spend the night stressing on how you are going to make this meal
  2. Make it feel fancy – maybe instead of mac and cheese and hot dogs, you do a 3 cheese mac and cheese with Gruyere, muenster and white cheddar
  3. Eat something that will get you full, but not make you feel like you want to sleep or just gained 2000 pounds – no one can get in the valentine’s mood when you’re feeling weighed down by your meal

Now that we have gone through some ground rules, what should you make?

Steak:

A juicy piece of perfectly cooked red meat SCREAMS love. If a ribeye or NY Strip hit the bank too much try my flank steak tacos to get more for your buck HERE.

Risotto:

Ok, this just sounds sexy. Its creamy, rich and bright when you add a little citrus too it. Checkout my butternut squash risotto HERE and top it with lots of fresh lemon.

What to Cook Your Significant Other on Valentine's Day

Oysters:

This is a given….one word: aphrodisiac. They are known to up the libido and leave you feeling as light as a feather

Cheese:

You HAVE to go with fondue in this case. Can it get more “food porn” than this? Set up a little candle action and feed each other.

Champagne:

A little bubbly to get you feeling bubbly never hurt anyone! Alcohol helps you relax and lower your inhibitions, so this one is a no brainer. Not sure what type of bubbles you should get? THIS post will point you in the right direction.

Chocolate:

Can this even be a post about Valentine’s day and food if we don’t talk about chocolate? Its decadent, rich, sexy. Chocolate is like an edible representation of love. Its flavorful, satisfying and exciting all at the same time! Try spicing up your chocolate with a little heat, HERE, to get ALL your senses going.

Not into the traditional types of dishes?

How about making your partner a night time breakfast in bed? You can use the syrup for MULTIPLE things. Use your imagination. Check out THIS spicy breakfast recipe

Ramen may be your option – you and your partner can slurp and lick down the bowls. Good practice for later. Just saying.

Fried Chicken much? Pop it into your air fryer to keep it light and V crispy. Dip the chicken into your favorite sauces and get messy! Check out my Indian Spiced Fried Chicken Recipe.

There is a little something for everyone on this menu. Just pick a dish and GO.

I’m off to go eat something now, I mean, can you blame me?

My Fiance would love all of the above. I love the sparkle fries though. I am going to hunt for a way to bring them to life this Friday!

I agree you don’t want to be too full from your meal on Valentine’s Day. I would definitely opt for the oysters and a small NY strip!

My husband and I are staying home this Valentine’s day., We have “outgrown” the going-out-for-dinner on Valentines, and we are happier just to be together. We will order pizza, have some beer and watch movies. Our kind of fun date. 🙂

These all sound good but we’re both so tired, it’s probably going to be Uber eats and netflix that night 😛

I prefer to stay in & cook together for Valentine’s Day rather than brave the crowds to go out! Can’t go wrong with champagne & chocolate 🙂

Yes, eating out on V day is so overrated. I prefer to stay at home. We pick up food though from the restaurant on our way home that we ordered early on. Eating at home in peace, away from the crowds is the way to celebrate!

Lovely idea to cook a meal at home for V-Day or any special day. And your three simple trips bring it right to the point: manageable, special and not sleep-inducing 🙂
