I know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?

SO.

I know I have been M.I.A. lately, and for that I am sorry.

ALERT, whiney person over here, but I have just been feeling so overwhelmed ever since I moved to Boston.

I just can’t seem to get myself into a routine, ya know?

I’ve been working a lot, nights mostly, so it’s not like there isn’t time during the day, but I have been feelingly overly tired and just exhausted…from life.

Is this weird?

I am missing Justin terribly and although the distance is short lived (finally get to see him next week!), it has just been a lot.

My workouts have been subpar, and If I am being totally honest, they have stopped all together.

It’s nice to have a motivator around, i.e. Justin, to help motivate me to get up early and get my butt in the gym.

Instead, I have been sleeping in (which I never really did before) and just being kind of blah.

I really don’t know how to explain it.

Does this ever happen to you?

Most people judge their sense of feeling overwhelmed by how busy they are, which got me thinking. How busy am I? How busy are you?

I know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?”

Queen O says it best, “When there are too many things to do, we think we’re busy, and when there isn’t much to do, it feels like we’re not busy at all. But in fact, we can feel busy when there isn’t that much to do, and we can feel relaxed even when there’s a lot going on.”

Put all your thoughts in order, write out a list (I use the notepad on my phone) and figure out what you need to do and when you need to do it.

Putting things down on paper gives you a visual reference and can help break things down for you and see what needs to take priority and how much shit you actually need to do.

Once you have figured out your priorities take a step back and commit.

My priorities have changes since I moved to Boston because I feel like I’m not on a schedule anymore.

For some, the scheduled life is boring. But for me, having things scheduled keeps me on track.

Commit to a way to make sure you get your shit done.

When you are alone it is hard to keep yourself accountable for everything.

Use a friend/partner to help push you, set up multiple alarms (I have so many alarms), and overall, just dig deep into yourself to help you keep moving.

The first thing I am going to do tomorrow is to go for a run.

Since it has been over a week since I last ran, I have talked to Justin about getting my ass back into workout mode (a friend/partner) and that at least put it out there that I recognize what I need to do.

Second, I have set up a bunch of alarms to ensure that I will wake up at a decent hour to get the run in.

Third, I have realized that the only person that can make me run is me. I need to do things in my life to make it better. Other people and things can’t do that.

Next, surround yourself around positive people that share a similar lifestyle as you, but are still getting things done.

My best friend works almost the same hours as me, manages to go to the gym every morning, and is keeping herself healthy, just out of sheer will and determination to be the best version of herself.

I don’t know why I have been feeling overwhelmed in being my best version.

The formula seems so simple.

Watching her has given me motivation to get back to my old self.

How long can I keep saying ‘I just moved to Boston and need to find my routine’?

Am I asking for a lot? Will it all ever be enough?

“When we are busy focusing on what we don’t have, we don’t pay attention to what we do have. Wanting is different from having. Wanting is in the future. It is based on an idea of what might make you happy in five minutes, tomorrow, next week. But having is here, now. Most of us don’t let ourselves have what’s in front of us, so we’re always wanting more. When you don’t let yourself have what you already have, you are always hungry, always searching, always restless.”

I/You/Us have the ability to do whatever we want that is in our reach and accessible. We don’t have to search it is there.

What I have in front of me is a beautiful lake to run around every morning and a body workout plan that Justin set up for me.

I don’t need to sign up at a fancy gym or yoga studio (although that is the goal to remain consistent to myself. Spending my own money gives me a commitment. That’s a topic for another day though).

Make goals that are attainable and within reach.

All of these things can help you overcome feeling overwhelmed.

I am slowly starting to practice what I preach and hope that we can be in this journey together. Give each other moral support and a boost to get through whatever it is we are going through.

I would love suggestions on how you get through things?

Talk to you Friday.

Xx

I love the honesty! It took me a while to get out of “overwhelming” life when we moved also. Good luck!!

I always feel overwhelmed lol but I know I have to get things done so I just do it. I have actually started making lists which help a ton. Otherwise I would forget everything and end up doing nothing at all. You’re probably feeling the way you do because you moved and are out of your comfort zone. I think time in your new environment will help, and your guy coming home will surely help too. Hang in there love, it will happen. Patience is key. Xx
