This Series is FLYING BY. I really can’t believe it.

We have now been married for 2 months!

Like, damn.

After the wedding we had a light lunch for our guests which was served in the loft of the barn. We did samosa chaat, which was served with house made samosas, chole and chutneys.

We had a 3-hour break in between the wedding and the reception so that guests could have a chance to relax.

Indian weddings are so long and can be exhausting so having that break in between was V necessary + I had to have time to change and redo my hair and makeup.

While I was getting dolled up for the reception the cocktail hour was going on in inside the Tavern at Mountain Top.

When guests walked in we made sure drinks were ready to go! The servers passed around glasses of wine and bubbles and locally crafted Vermont beer.

I absolutely LOVED our passed apps.

We kept it Indian-esq street food, with pani puri (served as shots), veg and non-veg naan tacos, mogo chips and crab cakes.

Since my wedding outfit was super old school, Rajhastaini traditional, we kept the reception outfit V modern. It was ice blue to mimic the winter vibes with gold embroidery and a dramatic long sleeve top with high shoulders. This, besides my wedding look, was my favorite outfit! The dupatta was lined with white peacock feathers, very Falguni Shane Peacock like and had gold lining. Again, Ruchita made my visions come to life!

Our reception aesthetic was Indian boho wintery chic.

Think evergreen, pine, pinecones, fern and lots of candles and tea lights.

Since the reception was in the barn it also gave it this nice rustic feel.

We wanted to keep the tablescapes super simple with an array of pinecones and evergreen sweeping the lengths. We had a variety of floating candles everywhere which really made everything cozy.

The barn and Mountain Top Inn has this beautiful overhead lighting made from little tea lights with strings of fern hanging from the top. All of it together made the inside into a cozy retreat from the winter outside.

We reused all of the flowers from the wedding ceremony has hanging pieces around the barn. NO WASTE HERE. We were even able to take the flowers home with us, which we did, and dried.

Let’s talk THEME.

The theme of our reception was food related…shocking, I know.

Our escort cards were made by Natasha with Bright and Blue Designs, who also did all the signage for the 3 days as well as the ceremony guides and dinner menus.

Each table comprised of an ingredient or kitchen accessory; chicken, mixed berries, apron etc. Each person received a “recipe card” with their name on it and a picture of either an ingredient or kitchen accessory. They matched their recipe card with the table card and that’s how everyone knew where to sit.

Our guestbook was actually a real cookbook called Indianish by Priya Krishna.

The book is V cute with cartoon like drawings and really embraced what Justin and I are about. A little Indian, a little American, a little bit of both!

The card box was actually a custom-made bread box by ‘Sharon M For the Home’ . We found her on Etsy and she customized the distressed bread box for us. J and I were so excited about it!

Its fucking huge (my fault…got the wrong measurements), so we don’t have a spot for it in our apartment, but we can’t wait to use it when we buy a home.

Like most Indian weddings we had A LOT of food.

Our menu was 4 courses (including dessert) and had a veg and non-veg option for each course.

We did 3 food tastings with MTI prior to the wedding, with the 3^rd tasting going fantastically!

The food was…well…OK…it definitely didn’t taste like the food we had tried at the tasting, but, it wasn’t horrible, and people seemed to enjoy it.

NOTE: MTI has never made an Indian menu before, so they did the best that they could, and Justin and I TRULY appreciate the work and effort that was put into it.

For desserts we did a selection of hand-made pies and cookies from a bakery called Dorset Rising. And for our wedding cake we stuck to a small 4-inch cake (just for us!) made from chocolate chip cookies and fudge. IT WAS SO FUCKING GOOD.

Our DJ was a local DJ named Shannon of Digital Dj’s and he was AMAZING.

He really put up with our Indian music requests and my whole family going though his laptop to pick out songs.

We did our best to keep the music a nice healthy mix of Indian and American so that everyone can enjoy.

I know I mentioned this is a past post, but seriously, the best part of our wedding was the comradery. Since 90% of our guests stayed on property it was super easy for everyone to get to know each other over the weekend. By Sunday it was like everyone was ONE family and not just two side. I really loved that.

Our first dance was to the acoustic version of Sunday Morning by Maroon 5…I am smiling just thinking about it!

The lyrics of the song mean a lot to J and I + Songs About Jane is one of our favorite albums & the acoustic version made everything seem extra romantic!

The BEST part of the night though, was our SURPRISE BRIDAL DANCE!

My friend Kruti is an amazing Indian dance teacher and she choreographed our dance to Nachde Ne Sarre from the movie Baar Baar Dekho.

TBH, we only practiced the dance once, the night before the wedding! Since our bridal party was so scattered it was hard to practice by ourselves.

WE NAILED THE PRACTICE…the actual wedding dance, not so much. HAHA. Although, I have to admit, Justin did the best. Me, the fucking Indian forgot her dance moves half way through. SUCH A JOKE.

It was SO fun though and everyone was really getting into it.

Like most weddings we had a photo both with lots of props. We got the photo booth memory book immediately after the wedding, so we got to take a look at everyone’s crazy shots on the drive home the next day.

After that our reception was pretty typical. There were plenty of Aperol spritzes and green tea shots and LOTS and LOTS of dancing.

We had an after party back at the house we had rented, and my brother made ramen which he slaved over the broth for 4 days! He served it with shredded pork and a spicy chili oil (get the recipe HERE).

We wanted something that was going to be warming, would fill our guests and was different that the usual pizza and tacos….although, I do love me some pizzas and tacos!

GAHHH.

The night went by SO quick and I wish I could relive it again.
