During this time most people take the time to reflect on their year. The good, the bad, the ugly….and I do too….so, in a nutshell….I moved across country, started a new job, got a puppy and am hopefully starting a new journey in the up and coming months (it’s top secret! I’ll share as soon as I get the chance). I did not meet my 300 kilometer running goal, here…which is OK….I made it to 192 kilometers, but started a new health journey with going to yoga and the gym 3-4 times a week which is HUGE for me.
So that’s my year summed up nice and pretty and packaged with a bow.
Now.
On to more important things.
CHAMPAGNE.
My last blog post of the year is all about CHAMPAGNE.
Don’t worry, I know that you will be drinking a shit ton of it over the next few days, so I am here to make you feel better about all the consumption. Also, what are you going to do with all the leftover Champagne?
A bottle of Veuve is a terrible thing to waste!
“The world’s favorite celebratory beverage is packed with antioxidants, vitamins and the type of detoxifying properties that can make our hair and skin glow.”
“Just like wine, champagne contains resveratrol, a potent antioxidant that can act as a shield against damage and provides serious anti-aging benefits.”
Alright.
You twisted my arm.
Give me more reasons to DRINK.
Health & Beauty Benefits of Champagne
Low In Calories
A glass of red or white wine contains between 135 and 200 calories, a glass of brut (dry) clocks in at only 95. And the low-sugar version, called “low dosage,” has a mere 65 calories per glass.
Helps Prevent Dementia and Memory Loss
A study at the University of Reading determined that drinking one to three glasses of champagne each week can boost brain health. The study was done on rats, half of whom were served champagne every day for six weeks (nice life for a rat, right?). The rats were tasked with completing a maze, and while the sober rats had an average success rate of 50 percent, the bubbly drinkers had a 70 percent success rate. Cheers to that!
Champs, a Heart Healthy Beverage
It’s just as good for your heart as red wine. Another University of Reading study concluded that “two glasses a day may be good for your heart and circulation and could reduce the risks of suffering from cardiovascular disease and stroke.” Maybe they should rename the place Champagne University?
Champagne Fights Oxidative Stress
Who knew that glass of bubbly has “antioxidants [that] are 20 to 50 times more powerful than vitamin C and vitamin E?” As a result, Style Caster explained, every sip “protects the skin’s vital collagen and elastin from environmental free radicals and oxidative stress.” Here’s to another round!
May Help You Drink Less in The Long Run
Bubbly and other effervescent drinks have been shown to make people drink slower and feel full more quickly. There’s even a diet plan based around it. Score!
Champagne Prevents Blood Clots
Beauty comes from the inside out, and a little champagne can help keep your heart happy, too! LifeHack shared that a particular antioxidant found in the drink, reservatol, keeps your blood vessels healthy, lowers bad cholesterol, and prevents blood clots.
Champagne Exfoliates Skin
The carbon dioxide in champagne acts as a gentle exfoliator to soothe dry skin.
Champagne Makes an Excellent Toner
You can use champagne on your face to promote clear skin. Dermatologist Marina Peredo, MD, told NewBeauty, “Champagne detoxifies the skin with antioxidants [and] for those with oily skin, its antibacterial properties aid in leaving last year’s breakouts behind.” Just dab a little champagne on a cotton ball and then over your face after washing for best results.
Champagne Reduces Redness
Health mag shared how each sip of champagne is packed with polyphenols to reduce redness and inflammation. Sip on!
Champagne Brightens Skin
Champagne contains tartaric acid, which helps balance out discoloration and can brighten your skin. Whether you sip it or dab it directly on your skin, you’ll notice a difference.
Now you have AT LEAST 10 reasons to sip on the fizzy adult delight! + here is one more!
Did you know the drink also makes an excellent hair treatment too? It can leave strands silk, shiny, and healthy because of the polyphenols and antioxidants, which protect hair from UV damage.
Make this SUPER EASY hair mask with all the leftover bubbly.
I hope this boozy breakdown was informative and helps you feel less guilty!
It has def helped me feel better about my champs addiction.
See you next year! (so corny, I know)
Xx

This was very interesting post. I had no idea that champagne has beauty or health benefits.
I personally don’t drink but a friend once told me that wines are indeed healthy and it has many surprising benefits in our body. For once, someone told me that it is good for the heart and skin… with all the info you provided, it seems like the rumors are true.
Although I think too much intake is still not good and everything whether it is wine or other foods should be taken moderately
You are exactly right. Everything in moderation.
This was really surprising to me, especially as so many people are quick to point out why drinks are bad for you. However I had no idea that champagne was good for you and could prevent dementia!
I would never have guessed that there were so many uses, let alone beauty regimen uses, for champagne. Unfortunately, I think I would still rather drink it…Especially with oj…lol….
This is so interesting! Love a good glass of champagne 🙂
